Although introductory in its early sections, the book is definitely not elementary in the sense of a first text in statistics. The mathematics used in our book is basic probability and statistics, elementary calculus, and linear algebra. A review of probability notation is given in Chapter 1 along with a more detailed list of topics assumed to have been studied. The practical orientation of the book means that the reader's previous experience in probability, statistics, and linear algebra should ideally have included strong computational components. To write an introductory text alone would leave many readers with only a taste of the conceptual elements but no guidance for venturing into genuine practical applications, beyond those where Bayesian methods agree essentially with standard non-Bayesian analyses. On the other hand, we feel it would be a mistake to present the advanced methods without first introducing the basic concepts from our data-analytic perspective. Furthermore, due to the nature of applied statistics, a text on current Bayesian methodology would be incomplete without a variety of worked examples drawn from real applications. To avoid cluttering the main narrative, there are bibliographic notes at the end of each chapter and references at the end of the book" Bayesian data analysis [livre] / Gelman, A., Auteur ; Carlin, J.B., Auteur ; Stern, H.S., Auteur ; Dunson, D.B., Auteur ; Vehtari, A., Auteur ; Rubin, D.B., Auteur . - 3rd ed. . - Boca Raton, Florida : CRC Press, 2014 . - 661 p.. - (Texts in statistical science) .

Titre : Multivariate analysis of ecological data using CANOCO Type de document : livre Auteurs : Leps, J., Auteur ; Smilauer, P., Auteur Mention d'édition : 1st ed. Editeur : Cambridge : Cambridge University Press Année de publication : 2003 Importance : 269 p. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-521-89108-0 Note générale : 2 ex. Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Case studies Data analysis Ecology Multivariate analysis Statistical methods Résumé : This book is primarily written for ecologists needing to analyse data resulting from field observations and experiments. It will be particularly useful for students and researchers dealing with complex ecological problems, such as the variation of biotic communities with environmental conditions or the response of biotic communities to experimental manipulation. Following a simple introduction to ordination methods, the text focuses on constrained ordination methods (RDA, CCA) and the use of permutation tests on statistical hypotheses of multivariate data. An overview of classification methods, or modern regression methods (GLM, GAM, loess), is provided and guidance on the correct interpretation of ordination diagrams is given. Seven case studies of varying difficulty help to illustrate the suggested analytical methods, using the Canoco for Windows software. The case studies utilise both the descriptive and manipulative approaches, and they are supported by data sets and project files available from the book website.
