Out of 145 species inhabiting the areas studied, 41 (or 28.275%) are endemic in these regions; out of 51 genera, only 6 (or 11.76%) are endemic to the same areas. Eighty diplopod species have been found in Serbia, 69 in Montenegro, and 61 in the Republic of Macedonia. Of the total number of millipede species, 16, 12 and 12 are endemic to Serbia, Montenegro, and Republic of Macedonia, respectively. Total number of families in the region studied is 21. The most abundant are the families Julidae and Polydesmidae. According to their current distribution, the established 145 species can be relegated to 10 zoogeographical categories, grouped into 4 complexes. The largest number of species belongs to the endemics complex, including 93 species.
