Résumé : |
In 1990 Sibley and Monroe compiled a list of the world's birds. On that list there were 9,672 species. In what has been somewhat of a taxonomic revolution more have been added as volalizations have been studied and DNA sequenced. Now there are likely to be close to 10,000 recognized extant species of birds, and many times that number have gone extinct over the past 145 million years since the first known fossil bird, Archeopteryx. This book summarizes what is known about the origin of these species. |
