Résumé : |
This book is the first complete guide to the birds and marine mammals of the Antarctic regions and the Southern Ocean, combining an in-depth, conventionally illustrated field-guide approach with extensive use of photographs, as well as providing a detailed region-by-region account of the area's wildlife and natural history. It is the perfect guidebook for every Antarctic and Southern Ocean voyage, and includes: 600 photographs covering all aspects of the region's natural history, 35 plates illustrating all of the indigenous birds and marine mammals, a detailed text representing a new approach to the identification and taxonomy of the birds and marine mammals. The book also includes a site guide for those areas of greatest interest and importance to visitors to the Antarctic and subantarctic; and some additional sites of interest around the main portals to the region, southern South America, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. This book is the result of a considerable body of international expertise, as many of the world's experts on the region's wildlife have contributed extensively to the text. [Résumé éditeur] |
